Curaçao Gaming Authority Announces Timeline for Re-Opening of Online Portal

The Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA) has announced the timeline for the re-opening of its online portal for new gaming license applications. This follows the passage of the National Ordinance for Games of Chance (LOK) on December 24, 2024, which introduced a new regulatory framework for the gaming industry in Curaçao.

Temporary Portal Closure for Transition to LOK Regulations

In preparation for this transition, the CGA temporarily closed its online application portal to accommodate necessary changes in licensing requirements. This interim measure was taken to ensure that the updated application process aligns with the new legislation, replacing the previous framework under the National Ordinance on Offshore Games of Hazard (NOOGH).

New and Updated Application Forms

The CGA is currently revising and updating all essential application documents to reflect the requirements under the LOK. These include:

  • Personal History Disclosure Form (PHDF)
  • Online Gaming Application Form
  • Business Corporate Information Form
  • Additional Documentation as required under LOK

The new application forms are expected to be finalized and made available by the end of February 2025.

Phased Re-Opening of the Online Portal

The CGA has confirmed a staggered timeline for the re-opening of its online portal:

  • Mid-March 2025 – B2C (Business-to-Consumer) applications will be accepted.
  • May/June 2025 – B2B (Business-to-Business) applications will open, subject to testing labs accreditation.

This phased approach allows the CGA to streamline the application review process and ensure that all applicants meet the updated regulatory standards before being granted a license.

Commitment to Regulatory Compliance and Industry Growth

The introduction of the LOK framework marks a significant shift in Curaçao’s gaming regulations, aimed at increasing transparency, accountability, and compliance within the industry. By implementing updated application procedures and new licensing standards, the CGA seeks to enhance the jurisdiction’s reputation as a responsible and well-regulated gaming hub.

As the revised application process nears completion, stakeholders are encouraged to stay informed about upcoming changes and prepare for the reopening of the online portal. Further announcements and details will be available through the CGA’s official channels.

For inquiries regarding the new application process, prospective applicants can visit the CGA’s website or contact their support team for additional guidance.
