What Ajman Free Zone is and who runs it
Ajman Free Zone is the oldest of the emirate's three licensing zones and the one with a port, warehouses and industrial land.
1988A public zone beside Ajman Port
Ajman Free Zone opened in 1988 beside Ajman Port, a short drive from the airports of Sharjah and Dubai. It belongs to the public sector: the Free Zones Authority of Ajman, set up in 2021, runs it together with Ajman Media City. More than 9,000 companies from over 165 countries hold its license.

What clients write about Legarithm
4.8 on Google from 26 reviews.
We had long been looking for someone to register a company in the UAE and help with the account. With Legarithm it went as it should: a clear process, help with the documents, no red tape.
Everything is well coordinated and clear. Half an hour of the first meeting was more useful than two weeks of trying to work it out myself.
Who Ajman Free Zone suits, and who should look elsewhere
The e-commerce package gives a company name, a license and a seat in the E-commerce Hub, the zone's co-working space for online sellers. How the routes for an online shop compare: e-commerce license in Dubai.
The sole professional license covers 40 freelance categories. It comes with a co-working desk and makes its holder eligible for a residence visa and for family sponsorship.
Warehouses from 100 square metres stand next to the port and customs, so stock moves in and out of the zone over a short distance.
An industrial license covers importing raw materials, manufacturing and export. A company that builds its own plant leases land for 20 years or more.
A service license with a desk in the Business Centre lets a small team invoice clients and hold residence visas.
A media business gets up to 50 visas on one license at Shams in Sharjah, and a team that wants four visas inside a published package fits RAKEZ. A company that sells on a Dubai address is on our page about a free zone company in the UAE.
Licenses and company types in Ajman Free Zone
- Seven kinds of license
- Commercial, service, industrial, e-commerce, freelancer, pioneers and offshore. We match the license and its activities to what the company sells.
- FZE or FZC
- A free zone establishment, FZE, has one owner, and a free zone company, FZC, has two or more, who may be people or companies. Each is a legal entity of its own.
- Branch of an existing company
- A UAE company or a foreign one opens a branch under its own name. The branch of a foreign company stays 100% foreign-owned.
- More than 3,500 activities
- The zone's list covers trading in named products, services and manufacturing. For a real-estate activity the zone asks for a business proposal, and we write it.
- A bank letter with the license
- With the license the zone issues a bank letter and a registration kit. Both go straight into the application for the company's bank account.

Ajman Free Zone visa: cost, steps and family
15 visasAt most on one license, by package and workspace
An Ajman Free Zone company sponsors up to 15 residence visas. The number follows the package and the workspace, and each visa costs from AED 3,000. The zone opens the establishment card and the e-channel, the company's account with the immigration service, and we apply for the entry permit.
Up to 4 daysFor the zone to stamp the residence visa
A person already in the UAE on a visit visa changes status without leaving the country. You take the medical test at Al Hamidiya health centre in Ajman, the one centre the zone accepts, and give fingerprints for the Emirates ID. The zone then stamps the residence visa: up to 4 days on the normal service, 2 days on the urgent one.
AED 4,500A month, the salary that sponsors a family
A visa holder sponsors a spouse and children on a salary certificate from the zone. Ajman Free Zone asks an employee for a salary of AED 4,500 a month or more, and health insurance for the family is compulsory in Ajman. Our page on the residence visa explains the family file.
