1987Fujairah Free Zone, for trade and industry
Fujairah has two free zones, and a company in either is 100% foreign-owned. Fujairah Free Zone Authority, FFZA, has licensed traders and manufacturers since 1987 on about 4 million square metres served by the Port of Fujairah and Fujairah International Airport.
2007Creative City, the media zone
Fujairah Creative City free zone, the emirate's media zone, was founded in 2007 by decree of the Ruler of Fujairah, under the Fujairah Culture and Media Authority. It licenses media, consulting, education, technology and online trade from the Twin Towers in Fujairah city.

Fujairah is the only emirate that lies wholly on the UAE's east coast. Its port stands on the Gulf of Oman just outside the Strait of Hormuz, about 70 nautical miles from it. Dubai is about 90 minutes away by road.

A media firm that plans many visas takes Shams, with up to 50 on a license, and industry that wants a west-coast port takes Hamriyah or JAFZA. To sell to local customers, open a mainland company in the UAE.

VAT is 5%, and VAT registration in the UAE is compulsory from AED 375,000 of taxable turnover. Fujairah Free Zone and the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone are on the Federal Tax Authority's list of designated zones. The VAT law treats such a zone as outside the UAE for goods once its conditions are met, so a company that stores or re-exports goods takes Fujairah Free Zone.

Is there a free zone in Fujairah?
Yes, two: Fujairah Free Zone, since 1987, and Fujairah Creative City, since 2007. The Ministry of Economy lists both as free-zone registrars.
What is Fujairah Creative City?
The emirate's media free zone, also written Creative City Fujairah. It sets no minimum share capital, and a flexi-desk serves as the company's office. Its rules exclude holding companies and investment funds. Every package, visa and rule of the zone is on Fujairah Creative City.

Yes. Creative City lets a company work from any emirate and gives a no-objection certificate for an office outside the zone. Goods reach mainland customers through a licensed distributor or a mainland branch.
